Christmas is an important holiday, especially as we remember the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. What Christmas traditions do you have? Share them with us!
Mr. Krueger's Christmas
- We have a unique family tradition. And that is every year around Christmas time we watch Mr. Krueger’s Christmas. I remember watching it as a kid with my family, and now we watch it every year as a family. We make fun of it a little, but we always remember the message it sends.

Our Christmas Traditions
- Some of the Christmas traditions we enjoy each year are: driving around town to see all the Christmas lights, making snowflakes, watching Christmas movies, and putting together a jigsaw puzzle as a family. We also focus on the birth of the Savior by reading Luke 2, watching or reenacting the Nativity, and sharing what gifts we are giving to Jesus this year.

Christmas Story with a Twist
- We read the scriptures about the birth of Christ from the Book of Mormon then read, "A Night Without Darkness." It's a kind of historical fiction children's story about the first Christmas from the Nephite perspective.

Caroling, Oyster Fry and Christmas Story
- Here in Idaho, it can get cold, so we like to take our friends and carol at an old folks home. We stay warm, singing in the halls, and get to enjoy some of the sweetest souls on earth. Some couples come out of their apartments and just beam, some sing with us, some just listen, and some insist on giving us a cake or something they have prepared for visitors. So amazing to me, these elderly people still have so much wisdom, and fun to offer and are still giving. On Christmas Eve we have a bit of a strange tradition, but I love it because it has been in my Dad's family for many, many generations. We gather on Christmas Eve and have an Oyster fry. Yes, oysters. Prepared properly, with some added lemon juice, they are truly delicious and actually good for you. Of course, not everyone enjoys those, so there is lots of other fantastic food, and we have a wonderful time visiting with family! We read the Christmas story and the kids act it out in the costumes we get out every year.

Christmas traditions
- We live in Australia where it is hot during the day. Our Christmas starts on Christmas Eve when we get to have the 'hot' meal. Our children, spouses and grandchildren come together along with in-laws and anyone else they would like to invite. We all go carol singing together and then we come home to eat. My husband always cooks a wonderful meal and we sit at a festive table and share each other's company. After the dishes are done we sit and sing more carols.

Express Gratitude to Our Saviour
- My children and I live in Australia and are the only members within our family. We celebrate Christmas by starting with presents. I pass out the presents and we all take turns in expressing gratitude to our Saviour during our morning prayer. We then have a family home evening on an aspect of Jesus' life and share songs, scriptures, and treats. After that we hand out chocolate baskets to our neighbour's children. We also leave gifts at charity organizations to be given to people in need. At lunch time we gather at one of our family's houses and share a buffet meal of cold meats, seafood, salads, and desserts. Then boxing day we generally go to the beach.
