Atonement

Definition: Jesus Christ's suffering for the sins of all mankind, His death upon the cross, and resurrection. Through the Atonement the effects of sin are removed from the repentant sinner, allowing him/her to be able to live with God.
Pronunciation: [uh-tohn-muhnt]
Also Known As: redemption, reconciliation, sacrifice
Examples: Christ's atonement was the greatest sacrifice of all.
