LDS Apologetics and News Forums Closing
Tuesday August 1, 2006
I have decided to close the LDS Apologetics and News forums which will happen within the next few days. I have also decided to become proactive with the LDS Community Forum, and the new rules are very strict.
LDS Community Forum Rules
1) The title of each thread should clearly state the topic of the thread.
2) Posts should stay focused on the topic and be of appropriate LDS discourse, meaning discussion that is interesting, honest, or productive in an LDS Community.
3) Posts with spam, details regarding temple rites, and/or objectionable/vulgar words will be deleted. Posters will be banned from the forum.
4) Posters who attack other posters will be banned. This includes manipulative tactics such as twisting and wresting another poster's words.
5) Posters only interested in attacking Mormon or other religious beliefs and are unresponsive to posts from regular forum members will be banned from the forum.
My goals in doing this are to wipe out the problems with the forums and start from scratch. I feel very good about this decision and am looking forward to making the LDS Community Forum a welcoming environment for visitors to communicate about LDS topics in an appropriate manner.

I always wondered why you put on your web site links to anti mormon sites. I can’t understand people who’s only reason is tearing down someone elses faith.
You do such a nice job. I don’t know how you do it. I have used your candy wrappers and clip art and so glad it was available. Thanks!
I agree with your decision. Thank you.
SOOOO PROUD OF YOU. THANK YOU FOR HONORING AND REPRESENTING US (THE LDS CHURCH) IN A POSITIVE LIGHT. WE WILL ALL BE BLESSED THRU YOUR EFFORTS.
hi there
I wish they wold do this with mormon q and a. thank you for all you have done. blessed576@aol.com
Thank you for your integrity. I’ve never understood why so many people in society seem to feel the need to attack these good and honest people. They are a little different from most people but in my opinion that’s a good thing. In my experience with them they have always been honest and upstanding. They seem to live a good life with their families and friends and the thing I really admire is their ability to care for others. It’s as if they have this need inside them to take care of those less fortunate than them and for my money that’s a great ‘different’ trait to have. The world could learn from them, I certainly have and I admire you for standing up in their favour.
Umm, this kind of makes you look like you’re opposed to open dialogue concerning your faith. You should be able to have a spot where the faithful can defend what they believe. I learned a great deal about the Latter-Day Saints community by arguing about it with LDS members.
But yeah, this makes it look like you’re opposed to discussions about things you believe to be true. But truth shouldn’t change with what people say.
It makes you look bad, is what I guess I’m saying.
At least ensure that the contents of the forums are saved. Past contributors deserve that much.
people don,t need to argue about thier beliefs because the spirit can,t be there and if arguing is what you want I feel that,s wrong Gwen
Rachel I have enjoyed your LDS About.com site and weekly newsletter for several years. It has helped me so much in my calling or when I have to give a talk in Church. It has been a great source for LDS anything. I never knew there was a forum attached to website till you posted the closing of the LDS Apologetic part of the forum. I just went in there as a guest and you definetly are making a wise decision that the Gift of the Holy Spirit didn’t need to tell you. My eyes are still burning from the stuff hidden under false headings. What prejudice and hate! Keep up the good work on such a good About.com site!
