Give Thanksgiving To God

Thanksgiving Cornucopia Copyright Jina Lee CNUFDL

Having a heart of gratitude and giving Thanksgiving to God in all things is one of His greatest commandments. "In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you" (1 Thessalonians 5:18). [Photo: Jina Lee/CNUFDL]

Virtual Tour of an LDS Meetinghouse

Monday November 16, 2009
Have you ever been inside an LDS Church building? If not have you wondered what it looks like on the inside and what we do there? Well now you can see for yourself, from the comfort of your computer chair, with this amazing interactive tour of a meetinghouse created by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

It's great to see what an average LDS church meetinghouse looks like, but it's even better to come and worship with us! Visitors are always welcome, and joining us for our Sunday sacrament meeting is one of the best ways to learn what we really believe- not just what you hear about us. Find out what to expect when attending our church services, including that we don't ask for donations or pass a plate to the congregation.

I love being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ! Just one of the amazing things about the Church is that we're a lay ministry, which means all services, meetings, organizations, activities, and functions are accomplished through the volunteer efforts of local members. So find your closest Church unit and join us this Sunday.

Joseph Smith Quotes

Thursday November 12, 2009
These quotes from Joseph Smith, first prophet of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, start when he was seeking for wisdom at 14 years of age and end before his martyrdom at age 38.

Joseph Smith was an amazing man- I know he was a prophet of God and restored the gospel of Jesus Christ in these the latter-days. From this list of quotes by Joseph Smith, I especially like the second to last quote on the fundamental principles of our religion.

The Holy Bible

Wednesday November 11, 2009
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has an excellent new topic page about The Holy Bible which answers questions such as:
  • Do Mormons believe in the Bible?
  • What is the relationship between the Bible and the Book of Mormon?
  • How can the Bible help me and my family?
Starting next January, Sunday School classes around the world will begin to study the Old Testament. I'm very excited about this and have already begun my study by reading the Books of Moses and Abraham in The Pearl of Great Price, which is what led me to create a chart of the Lineage of Adam (also see the Lineage of Abraham).

I love the Holy Bible and know it is the word of God, given to us through His prophets. Learn how you can get a free Bible and start studying it today! You can also visit The Book of Mormon topic page for excellent videos and resources.

Christ Visits Ancient America Video

Monday November 9, 2009
At JosephSmith.com you can watch a short 3 1/2 minute video presentation, "Christ in Ancient America" showing a time-line of the history of The Book of Mormon. The video begins when the prophet Lehi fled Jerusalem and ends with Joseph Smith, who saw God the Father and Jesus Christ and translated this ancient American history from a set of gold plates.

If the story of Joseph Smith, his visions, revelations, and translations seem extraordinary that's because they are! What would you be willing to give to know the truth about God, what He looks like, what He wants from us, and how to find out? All it takes is a humble heart and open mind. Start learning now!
