The First Time I Saw the Temple

I was baptized in 1975 in Snowflake, AZ. I didn't go to the Temple for my own Endowment until 1995 in Mesa, AZ Temple.

As I was walking up to the Temple for the first time to go through, I actually felt scared, not knowing what to expect. I looked up at the words on the front "The House Of The Lord" and felt a wave of Love go through me as never before. THIS was the most HONORED, BLESSED event I would ever experience on this Earth.

How the Temple Has Blessed My Life

I've been blessed in so many ways since going through the Temple: learning what the Temple really is all about is a Blessing in itself, one begins to learn (and do) of forgiveness, love from within in a different way, (and meaning) of yourself, and others around you, Love of our Savior is deeper and more understanding of what, and why, He did (and had to do) for our Father in Heaven and all of us, His Brothers and Sisters.

Taking the Ancestor's through for their Ordinances and knowing they were Sealed together for Eternity is a True Blessing, I shall never forget.

The picture below is of the SLC Temple at Christmas. We had no money for gifts that year, so I asked my children to just go to the Visitor's Center with me and have a Spiritual Christmas.

Advice

  • If someone is going through the Temple for the first time don't think of yourself as NOT worthy enough, that's our Savior's job, just go and accept the Blessings within the Temple, and attend often.
  • Put aside the things of the World.
  • Make the time to be attend the Temple and to make it a priority.
  • Prepare yourself Spiritually by fasting and on your knees to pray.
  • Fill your heart with Spiritual Love (our Savior's Love) within.
  • Always hold your head up high and know you are a part of our Heavenly Father's Plan on this Earth
  • Stand tall, proud, and with armor.
