The First Time I Saw the Temple
The first time I entered a Mormon church was in Melbourne Australia in March 2006 and that was the last time I entered any other church including the one I was very actively involved in. I was baptized three months later and had a desire to enter the temple but unfortunately my husband was against my decision to become a member and was very angry with me. He tried all sorts of things to hurt me including having an affair and tried to change my mind but I was determined to enter the temple. I moved back to New Zealand and left my husband in Australia in September 2007 and was able to enter the temple in March 2008.
How the Temple Has Blessed My Life
My first time in the temple was very emotional for me. I felt a great LOVE for my children, families and especially my husband. All the teachings I have learned about forgiveness filled my heart that day. And yes you've guessed it, I truly forgave my husband for all the mean things he said and did to me because of the church. My husband moved back to New Zealand and got baptized in June 2008. My family has been blessed and was sealed for all time and eternity in the Temple in July 2009 in New Zealand.
Advice
- While you are preparing for the temple, there will be trial after trial- trust me I am speaking from experience- but always remember that Satan's main job is to ruin the plan of salvation. Just focus on your reward at the end.
- Talk to your bishop about "Prepare to enter the Temple" classes. If they do not hold one they will if you ask.
- When you finally enter the temple just relax and enjoy the experience. I always share that experience with my children and now every time my husband and I go to the temple they ask to come along too. They are looking forward to their own experiences for when they enter the temple.
