My Conversion Story: The Lord Answered My Prayer

Share Your Story: How I Converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

What I Believed Before I Converted

I was raised in a family that did not believe in God and took morality lightly. While in my 20's I started questioning our purpose here. I went to many other churches including Catholic, Buddhist, Jehovah's Witness, etc. During this time I was tracted by missionaries and took the discussions. They helped me quit smoking and drinking and though I liked them I was still not sure if this was right. I ended up moving and lost contact with the Sister Missionaries.

How I Knew the Church Was True

Three years later I got to the stage where I really wanted to know. I started praying about the Church and decided I would visit the Church. I set a date in which I would attend my first meeting. Although I had not seen a missionary since I had the lessons, I told my cousin that was staying with me, that if any missionaries came I wanted to talk to them. Within a couple of days missionaries turned up and my ex husband sent them away. My cousin came in and told me so I went out and told them to come back. I re-took the lessons and myself, my cousin, and my 8 year old daughter were baptized within 2 weeks of them coming. I knew that Heavenly Father had answered my prayers and that the Church and the Book of Mormon were true.
