My Conversion: Mormons gave me some books to read

Out and about in Crossville, TN Sep 2009.

What I Believed Before I Converted

I rented out two bedrooms to a Mormon Couple with 2 kids. They gave me some books to read. I read the History of Joseph Smith first. I can say I actually felt the spirit, tears rolled down my face throughout the time it took me to finish the book. I highly recommend reading the History of Joseph Smith first, then I would have better understood the Book of Mormon. If I had read the Book of Mormon first I don't think I would have converted to LDS, or should I say, it would have taken me longer to see the light. By reading the history first I saw the light of LDS very soon. It took about 3 months for me to "SEE THE LIGHT"

How I Knew the Church Was True

I knew that Joseph Smith could not have lied. He was at a ripe age of being innocent, no sin in his life, was honestly seeking for the truth. A 15 year old and with a 3rd grade education, had to be the truth. Jesus Christ was at a young age, God chooses those that are innocent, free mind in harmony, sincere and this is what caused me to convert and become a Mormon.

Advice

  • Read the History of Joseph Smith first. There are a lot of writings about the Lamanites' wars, which I feel won't be of interest to a new convert that is seeking the truth. People can learn about the wars later.
