Singing Time: Hot Potato

By Rachel Bruner, About.com

This idea is great for practicing the program songs during singing time.

Preparation: Take a real potato and wrap it in foil several times. With each new layer put in a piece of paper that has the title to a song that you are practicing.

Directions: As the piano plays have the children pass the potato, when the piano stops playing the child with the potato has to unwrap the next layer of foil to find the next song to practice. This is great because by the last song the kids want to find out if it is a real potato inside!

Note: If you have two singing times you'll need two potatoes wrapped. I had the children, especially jr primary, sit in a circle on the floor. They had a blast and even tried to pass the potato slowly so they would be the one stuck with it!
