Singing Time: Unlock the Treasure

By Rachel Bruner, About.com

This fun idea was submitted by Tonya Neilson and is a clever way to have your primary children sing well during singing time!

Preparation:
  • Find a lock with a key and then have extra keys (ones that don't open the lock).
  • Hook the lock onto a box or chest.
  • Hide the key under a chair in the room.
  • Hang each extra key on a board with a number beside it.
Directions: When the child picks a key have them try the lock and each time sing a song. When the last key is tried and doesn't work, tell the children to look around for the lost key and to check under their chairs. When the key is found and it opens the lock, have a small treat (such as a starburst) inside for each of the kids.
