LDS Primary: Birthday Treasure Map

By Rachel Bruner, About.com

This fun birthday idea is a great way to show your LDS Primary children that you care about them.

Preparation: Make a treasure map that says, "Following God's plan for us is like following a map. If we choose the right way, our Treasure in Heaven will be waiting for us. Your Birthday Treasure awaits you if you follow the path wisely." Draw a map that led from the primary room to the bishop's office. Along the way you can write little sayings such as, "reverence is needed," "wrong choice," "nope not here," "try again," etc. Make a treasure box to keep the map in.

Directions: For the children's birthdays give them the map so they can work their way to the bishop's office where he can talk with them and give them their treasure, such as: Notes:
  • Younger children will need adult supervision.
  • Make sure you talk with the bishop ahead of time so he's there when the children come.
  • If necessary you can make the treasure map lead to a different location where a primary leader gives them their treasure.
