It's not uncommon for me to receive email from those who are antagonistic
towards the Church. The letters are generally filled with hostile comments
and false accusations. Following are excerpts from a typical letter along
with my responses. Are Mormons Christians? "I must insist that you make the lds section it's own section! First, you are not Christians!" Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are Christians. Please review the following references: The Godhead "You say that the bible and the book of mormon complement each other, well they contradict each other. You are a polytheistic religion. In order to be Christian you must be monotheistic. You are polytheistic because you believe that the most blessed trinity are three beings made of flesh and blood." Actually, we do not believe "the most blessed trinity are three beings made of flesh and blood." We believe that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are resurrected beings and the Holy Ghost is a spirit body. We also believe that though they are separate beings they are unified in purpose, thus making them one. For more details about the Godhead, please read the following:
The Resurrection "Also, you say that during the three days that CHRISTOS was in the tomb, he was preaching to the natives in america. Hello! he was in hades bringing life to the people in the tomb. that is the whole point of Easter! Life from death, not preaching to the people in ancient america!" Once again, you have your facts a little confused. We do not believe that Jesus Christ was "preaching to the natives in america" during the three days before he was resurrected. We believe He went among the righteous spirits of those who had already passed on from this mortal existence. It was after he was resurrected that he appeared to the ancient American people. For more reading on this topic please see the following references: "Oh, and when CHRIST tells us of other sheep who will hear my word, well he didn't mean you, he meant everybody in the world who was not Christian!"You're right! He didn't mean "us". Christ was speaking of the ancient American people who had been separated from the Jews because of unrighteousness. In 3 Nephi 15:21-24, the Lord tells these people: And verily I say unto you, that ye are they of whom I said: Other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd. | ||||||||||
