The night came, and went. Day had disappeared, and night had long since, it seemed, taken hold; and the fighting had continued. Charge, after bloody charge, and lull after ghastly lull, filled with Major General Ryan Matthew Forrest's Calvary song, "The Doom Song", and combat after sickening combat, continued. Then near the daybreak of the second day of battle, as suddenly as the massacre had begun, it ended. Bloody, slightly broken, but still breathing, The Prophet looked around. As far as the eye could see, into the distant horizon, and beyond, the land lay strewn with dead bodies, and other various, mostly unidentifiable, body parts. He could see that in death, all are the same and equal, no matter what they fought for. This he could tell because the bodies, and body parts, of the people of Deseret, and the Enemy's forces, laid side-by-side, all equally disfigured, all equally mutilated, and all equally dead.
Only twenty- four of The Prophet's forces survived. This is what all the survivors discovered, as they gathered together. And as they discovered this, despair fell upon them all, like the sword of their foes. "Freedom, and it's followers, have been enslaved by the Enemy. And now Justice and Liberty's last bastion and stronghold, for Deseret has fallen. LORD GOD we have failed Thee!!!!" cried Edward Lee, The Prophet. "FATHER, FATHER why have You forsaken us?!?!?", cried the Twenty-Four Survivors of Deseret. There they stood, in the middle of an Earthly-Hell, and cried for the death of the people around them, the fear of the final fates of their wives and babes, and the thought that they had failed GOD. Sorrow, fear and death was all around them, the only things they had left.
Then the barks of two AK-47s rang through the countryside, and a hail of bullets sprayed forth, filling the air around them. Hearing this, the Twenty-Four knew that death was coming for them, in bullet form, and resigned themselves to oblivion. And so resign, they all stood ready to die, The Prophet included. But the white hot, flesh-searing bullets never came, never touched them. The bullets blew up in mid-air, as the guns blew up in the hands of the two wicked ones who had fire upon them. Below them all, the earth begun to rumble, cracks and fissures appeared, and then, heading away from the Twenty- Four, a humongous crevice opened wide. The mourning black sky erupted in thunder above them, and lightning shot down from on high, and struck the soldiers of the Enemy's army, killing them in large quantities, one-by-one. Fire shot up from beneath the ground, in large, sulfurous, and brimstone vents, cooking and burning all it touched with a holy fire. The wrath of GOD had fallen from Heaven, straight on to the forces of the Enemy. And all the Twenty-Four could do was stare in awe and amazement, for on the immediate ground and air around them was peaceful, and it was as if they where hundreds of miles away from the apparent chaos that befell their enemies, and they were not hurt.
Before the eyes of the Twenty-Four Deseret survivors, who were mostly from the Nauvoo Legion, excluding himself, Johnathan "Old Juggernaut" Jackson, and Ryan Matthew Forrest, the remaining forces of the Enemy were either swallowed up into the Earth, struck down by lightning, or burned to death with fire. Then, with all of the demonic forces of the Enemy dead, it all stopped. The magnitude of what had happened had not sunken into their minds of the Twenty-Four, before the sky opened, and Light filled all of the land, healing the earth by closing the openings, and stopped all the deterioration of the ground. The plant life all around came to life, and the dead bodies all turned to ash and dust. As the Twenty-Four dwelt upon this new miracle, a Voice poured forth from the Light, and a Personage could be seen, descending inside the Light.
"BEHOLD", the Voice spoke, "I AM JESUS CHRIST, THY GOD. BECAUSE OF THY FAITH, THOU HAST BEEN SAVED. BECAUSE OF IT'S FAITH, THE EARTH HAS BEEN HEALED, AND BECAUSE OF THEIR FAITH, AND THEIR FATHER'S LOVE, THE DEAD SHALL YET RISE FROM THEIR GRAVES. YEA I DECLARE THAT THE DEAD SHALL BE BROUGHT FORTH!", The voice of Centuries, the Voice of Life, The Voice of Creation, event the very Voice of CHRIST wrapped the Twenty-four up, and wafted all around them, and caught them up in the total, universal, and inescapable Love, and Power, and Comfort, that is GOD, as CHRIST spoke to them.
Looking into the sky, Edward Lee, The Prophet, The Warrior, The Scholar, The Flawed Mortal Man, followed by the rest of the Twenty-Four, fell to their knees. Tears of Love, and Worship, and Joy, streaming down Edward Lee's cheeks, and in the mud and muck of the once Santa Clara Valley, he could only think of one phrase to describe all that had just taken place. As the glory and warmth that is The Light of Christ fell upon him, he could only speak in a whisper. With all his faith, all his worship, all his love, and all his honor, all his might, mind, and strength, he spoke in a hoarse whisper. Saying the only thing that came to his mind, and soul, he uttered one word, "Salvation."
By: Jerri Wilmoth The Point of the story? Simply that the LORD will always be there for those who trust in Him. That He is always with you throughtout all your pain and hurt He is there to uplift and strengthen, and protect you.
