I was raised a member of the church, but I had different intentions. If told not to do something, I did it. Well needless to say, at 15 I was pregnant and having to face REAL LIFE. My boyfriend was 18 and also a member of the church but never active since his baptism at age 12. We were married when I turned 16 and that was for the best. Although we weren't active members, we had our children blessed by their grandfather. It wasn't until we had 3 children and the oldest turning 8 the age of baptism that we decided to think about teaching our children the gospel.
In December of 2002 Tyler turned 8 and we weren't setting any kind of example to him or our other 2 children 6 and 2. We wanted him to be baptized but weren't sure he'd understand it. In January my son had his interview and was going to be baptized on Feb. 2, 2002, by my oldest brother. Our bishop interviewed us also. He set us straight, telling my husband that it was his job to baptize his son. And if he could keep the commandments, he could be ordained a priest and do it himself. Well he made a promise that day that he would obey our Father in heaven and was ordained a priest a couple weeks later. A week after that he baptized our son.
From that day forward I also was converted I had to face many more challenges in order to do the right thing, but on August 28,2002, we were sealed to each other and our children in the Las Vegas Temple. We are very happy to have found the truth. The temple is now our favorite place to go, we are there at least once a week and after we were sealed we were there almost everyday. I have a strong testimony of the gospel and know that it is true.
