And so, I picked up a copy and had it read within the week. After finishing, I decided I wanted what he had. I wanted to be happy. But how? I had no idea. God seemed like a good place to start, but I hated God. So, I put the idea on the shelf.

That is, until one day I came across Donny's website. He has an entire page on LDS beliefs. Reading his book was the first time I figured out what a Mormon was. Now I had a plethora of information about these strange people who crossed their arms when they prayed at my very fingertips.

All of this research I was doing took place at my grandmother's house. I didn't dare do it at home. I printed a myriad of pages of doctrinal questions to take home and read while nobody was awake. My grandmother asked me if I was going to be a Mormon now, joking that we could use one in the family. I assured her that I was going to research every religion until I had found the correct one. She told me she had a Book of Mormon I could have. My grandfather is a history buff and so she had bought him a copy to satisfy his curiosity. She gave it to me and I brought it home and hid it away.

I laid the book aside for most of the summer. I felt I should read it, but I never did. Then, about a month before the school year started, I moved out of my house and in with my grandparents. In unpacking I came across this book I had never read that drove me to give up my beloved frappicinoes. And I determined I would read it.

And read it I did. It opened with what I thought to be a delightful story. Granted, I didn't understand a lick of it, but I couldn't put it down. But what now?, I wondered. I was prepared to take on these new standards, and I liked God again. We would have been on speaking terms if I knew how to pray. This was all well and good, but I was stuck, I had not an inkling of what came next. So, I decided to wait it out.

When I got on campus I looked up the LDSSA. They were in the Life Book, but no contact information. Foiled again!

Well, my dorm room looked out over the Chapel on Campus and I noticed that there was activity in the Plaza. What if? I dared to think to myself. So, I took myself down there and passed by this table labeled "LDSSA' laden with books just like the one that sat up in my room. "Hello," I said to the blonde haired girl, who manned the table, "My name is Crystal, and I would like to join your Church."
