The Bottom Line

The Ark of the Covenant is based on the popular board game, Carcassonne, which won the 2001 Game of the Year award. This LDS version uses prophets, followers, temples, and of course The Ark of the Covenant. It's for 2 to 5 players, takes about 30-45 minutes, and is perfect for those ages 8 and up. The game is played by strategically placing tiles to create cities, roads, and temples and by placing prophets, followers, and sheep herders. Earn even more points by moving the Ark of the Covenant.
Pros
  • Quick Paced and Easy to Learn
  • Different Tile Placement for a New Game Each Time

Guide Review - The Ark of the Covenant - LDS Board Game Review

I love this game! It's easy to learn, is tons of fun to play, and is fairly quick paced. Once you know how to play it takes two players about 30 minutes. My husband, Mario, and I have had so much fun playing this game, we played it three times in a row one night, and played it again the next two nights. Even though there's a bit of luck involved (when drawing tiles) there's a lot of skill needed when placing the tiles, prophets, followers, and moving the ark. Mario and I especially enjoy competing for the most sheep that each of our shepherds can herd. It's also really fun to place wolves (that "eat" the sheep) in each other's fields. This game is wonderful and I highly recommend it, even for those who don't play many games, because this one's so much fun. The only reason I didn't give this game 5 stars was for the score board. I find the board for keeping score is too small. We seem to earn so many points that our markers keep lapping the board and we lose track of how many times we've gone around. This isn't a problem when more than two players are playing, but for two people it would be better if the score board was larger. Fortunately this is easily remedied with a bit of creativity: use different colored markers for each new lap, mark each new lap on a piece of paper, or use different colored followers for your marker and each time you lap the board add another marker to the scoreboard. A perfect Family Home Evening game. Thanks to Inspiration Games for this great game!
