Sharing Time - Two Masters
A great way to teach the scripture, "No man can serve two masters."

By Rachel Bruner, About.com

Preparation: Put together the "experiments" listed below, which the children will do as part of the lesson.

Directions: Have the children separate into four groups and give each group one of the following experiments:
  • Write the words to "I am a Child of God" on a piece of paper while singing out-loud "Mary had a Little Lamb". These should be attempted at the same time.
  • Make two paper airplanes, then standing back to back throw the planes in opposite directions while trying to get them to land in the exact same spot.
  • Try drinking from two glasses of water at the same time without spilling, make sure to place a towel around them first.
  • Write their name both backward and forward (using two pencils, one in each hand) at the same time without stopping.
Afterward have one child from each group explain what their assignment was, if they could/couldn't do it, and why not if they couldn't.

New Era Posters: Note: "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon." This scripture is located in three places: Matt. 6:24, Luke 16:13 and 3 Ne. 13:24.
