Preparation: You will need tin foil, tape, and Bibles for each child.

Clipart and New Era Poster: Directions: Have the children divide into six groups, but have one of the children be the "model" or "mannequin" that will be dressed up and fit with each piece of armor. Give each group an assignment to make out of the tin foil one of the following items and place them on the person chosen to be the model:
  • Shoes
  • Girdle (armor around the waist)
  • Breastplate
  • Helmet
  • Sword
  • Shield
After the groups are done have the children look up the scripture (listed below) and have them read and explain each verse. (If there isn't enough time you can cut out verse 12.)

Note: The apostle Paul taught this parable because there were many Roman soldiers in the land and when the people saw them they could be reminded of how to protect themselves against evil. The scripture is located in Ephesians 6:11-17:

"Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

"Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

"Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

"And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

"Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

"And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."
