Preparation: Print or make a copy of the mystery code clipart below. Make messages using this code for the children to decipher.
Directions: This idea works well for messages about any lesson you may be teaching. For example, if your Sharing Time lesson was about prophets you could make a bunch of codes that say, Gordon B. Hinckley, Joseph Smith, Lehi, etc, and hand them out. Then show the kids the mystery code chart and let them decipher their codes. When they're done have them read them out loud and then ask the children to guess what they lesson is about.
Optional Clipart:
Note: Another idea would be to make one large quote, saying, or scriptures using the mystery code (on a poster board, or chalk board) and throughout the lesson when the children answer questions give them one or more letters from the chart for them to decipher. For example if the scripture in code was "I will go and do..." you could give the part of the code for letters A-I that they could decipher. on the board. Then a bit later you could give the letters S-V, etc.
