Something primary is chief in importance. Teaching children is of primary importance in the Church and that's why the Primary program exists.
My husband and I have a family tradition of going to other church's special Christmas programs every year. I was astonished to discover that, in some churches, children are not included in the main worship service. Children are either segregated to a particular area in the main chapel or expected to go to other rooms for more specialized instruction during this main meeting time.
In The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon), children not only have their own specialized program but they annually provide a special presentation during the main meeting time to showcase their gospel learning and activities for the year.
We all look forward to this yearly event. The children give talks (small sermons), sing their Primary songs and more. Their sweet voices and sweet spirits radiate the gospel of Jesus Christ in a special way.
This event usually takes place in September. I can't wait!
