During the Saturday morning session of General Conference, President Thomas S. Monson, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, announced plans for six new temples.

Five of the new temples will be built in the following locations:
  • Paris, France
  • Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo
  • Durban, South Africa
  • Barranquilla, Colombia
  • Star Valley, Wyoming
The prophet also announced that the Provo, Utah Tabernacle (which was extensively damaged by a fire in December 2010) will be rebuilt and converted into a temple.

There are currently 135 operating temples worldwide and 31 temples that have been announced or are under construction. Learn more about these new temples in the Church news article. There's also a picture prototype of what the Provo, Utah Tabernacle will look like when it's been converted into a temple.

I have updated the LDS Temple Trivia Quiz to include the latest announcement of new temples.
