Part of my regular scripture study includes listening to (or reading) the talks by our Church leaders in the most recent General Conference. Today I listened to the talk, "LDS Women Are Incredible!" by Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.I was touched by Elder Cook's words, both when I first heard his talk in April, and again today. Here are some of the wonderful things he said:
"God placed within women divine qualities of strength, virtue, love, and the willingness to sacrifice to raise future generations of His spirit children....If you haven't yet heard or read this fabulous talk, I highly recommend it. I especially loved the story Elder Cook shared about the young women who found another girl's purse and their experience as they carefully searched for the young lady's identification- it's a wonderful story!
"Our doctrine is clear: Women are daughters of our Heavenly Father, who loves them. Wives are equal to their husbands. Marriage requires a full partnership where wives and husbands work side by side to meet the needs of the family.
"We know there are many challenges for women, including those striving to live the gospel....
"Sisters have key roles in the Church, in family life, and as individuals that are essential in Heavenly Father's plan. Many of these responsibilities do not provide economic compensation but do provide satisfaction and are eternally significant."
