The Power of Journal Writing

Journal writing is a powerful technique for working through any kind of thoughts, worries, fears, doubts, etc. Over the years I have seen the power of journal writing in my life. Writing in a journal helps me focus my thoughts and ponder over personal questions and situations. I've often found that after journal writing my mind is more clear and open to receive personal revelation, including answers to prayers and questions, guidance for problems, and replacing fears and doubts with hope and faith.

Recently I was struggling with some worries and fears. After praying for peace I felt inspired to write in my journal. I picked up my journal but then foolishly fought against the prompting and just stared at the blank page for about half an hour. I was worried about journaling my fears and concerns, but fortunately I eventually pushed away those feelings and began to write. After I wrote I received another prompting; I felt inspired to read my patriarchal blessing as well as my husband's blessing, which I did.

Reading our blessings reminded me of the promises and counsel we've each been given of the Lord. Afterwards I realized my worries and fears had been replaced with hope and faith.

Journal writing has been one of the mediums in which the Lord has answered my prayers and blessed me with the guidance I've needed at a particular time. Journal writing is a powerful tool, and is something anyone can do.
