Unfortunately I missed church last Sunday and didn't get to hear the First Presidency's letter that was read in LDS congregations in the U.S. The LDS Church Newsroom has an article about the letter which encouraged members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to participate in the 2010 United States Census.
The LDS Newsroom quotes a few things from the letter including the following counsel:
The LDS Newsroom quotes a few things from the letter including the following counsel:
"We urge all members to respond to them in an accurate and timely manner. It is an important obligation for all citizens to be counted in the census."If you haven't yet completed it, now is a great time to get it filled in and sent. To follow my own advice, and the counsel from the First Presidency, I just filled in our copy of the census. After my husband looks at it, we'll mail it in.

I read a blog where people were encouraged to make a copy of there filled in census form, then stick it into their genealogy papers so future generations won’t have to wait for the microfilm.
My census form has been filled out.
The census form asks for information on people living in the house on April 1st. I thought the form should be mailed after the first of April but then we received a card saying “If you have already provided your census information” so we went and mailed it in. Sure hope no one moves in with us in the next couple of days! I wonder how much money was wasted by sending out post cards ahead of time telling us that we’d be getting the forms and then sending another post card after the census reminding us to mail it in. Such a waste!
