The Nativity Story
Saturday December 23, 2006
I was really excited because my family and I were going to see The Nativity Story today and I was going to share my thoughts about it with you... but we weren't able to see it because of a mix up at the theater. Supposedly the previous showing sold out (obviously because it's the Christmas season) so they moved it to a larger theater room except there was a communication error. We ended up missing the first 15 minutes and when we finally found out about the error and went to the correct room it was packed! So the theater let us watch another movie of our choice and gave us tickets to come back and see The Nativity Story any other time. Since I can't review it until after Christmas I thought it would be nice if those of you who've seen it could leave your thoughts about the movie (no spoilers please!) in the comments section of this post!

My 8 year old son and I saw this movie, The Nativity Story, and we loved it. It doesn’t have all the action and excitement that 8 year olds are used to now a days, and we still loved it. It showed the perspective of Mary and Joseph as real people, and sometimes we forget that they were real people and it showed how her family and village saw her as an unwed pregnant girl.
What I loved about this movie the most was after it was done and my son and I were driving home, he asked so many questions (he has been raised on this story, yet it brought up so many points that I had missed in generalizing) and we were able to discuss our feelings about what happened and how it was for us.
Bottom line, I am buying it to watch as a tradition every Christmas Eve forevermore.
My husband, daughter and I went to see this movie. I was pessimistic, not thinking they can do the story justice. I believe that they have. I cried so hard and loved the authenticity of everything in the movie. I look forward to purchasing it on DVD and giving it as gifts for Christmas next year. One of the best movie experience I’ve had in a long time.
It was very well done..I said to my 8 year old granddaughter when it was over, it really made the Christmas songs more meaningful like you could relate to the words better. Excellent
We loved the movie cant wait to buy it.
What a wonderful movie. I saw it twice. Thank you to Temple Hill Production and all those who were involved in the making of this marvelous movie. Mary and Joseph became more than names on a page and you came to understand their natures. You really hated Herod the King and the Magi were charming and wise and “real”. The distances traveled by Mary and Joseph and the Magi were long an physically taxing. You felt like you were there with them on those journeys. And when you arrived in Bethlehem and watched the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ, your heart was lifted and your eyes filled with tears of joy. Both times that I saw the movie the audience was silent at the end and then erupted into applause. It’s a great movie experience and I can’t wait to have my own copy to watch year after year. It will become a tradition for me. Thank you again!
Thank you everyone for sharing your comments about The Nativity Story! I enjoyed reading them and now my own review is available to read:

I was moved reading the comments of others who cried and applauded at this movie. I felt the same way, and this movie really touched my soul. My dad and sister went with me and we had been grumpy after being tired from Christmas shopping. After that movie I felt alive again and my dad seemed affected too. My sister wasn’t grumpy anymore. The Nativity Story movie really put things into perspective about the true meaning of Christmas and what really matters – Jesus! I loved the way Mary and Joseph were portrayed and the sacrificial love they showed towards each other. I loved the supernatural effects. They caused me to want to study the bible and examine my faith even more. I plan to buy this movie as soon as it comes out and I plan to watch it every year. A great movie that was a very pleasant surprise for 2006!!!!
