Changes in Home, Family, and Personal Enrichment

Wednesday December 14, 2005
Did you know that beginning January 1, 2006 the meetings for Home, Family, and Personal Enrichment will be held quarterly instead of monthly? There are also additional activities which can be on-going throughout the year for sisters with similar interests and needs.

Some of the on-going activities that my ward is already holding are:
  • Quilt Block Group
  • Fitness Group
  • Scripture Study Group
  • Play Group
  • Lunch Group
  • Book Group
  • and more!
See the Home, Family, and Personal Enrichment Category and the LDS Activity Ideas for a list of other possibilities.

To learn more you can visit the Home, Family, and Personal Enrichment section of "Serving in the Church" at LDS.org or directly open the PDF file of the Home, Family, and Personal Enrichment Guidelines. There's even a Comparison Chart (of the new and past guidelines) and a list of Frequently Asked Questions about the new guidelines, including the answer that these new guidelines replace the old ones in regards to Home Family and Personal Enrichment.

Please advise if your “lunch groups” are at a restaurant with everyone paying for themselves or if it’s at the church, etc. I am not certain if it is permissable to do this every month where everyone pays their own way. thank you

Our lunch groups are held at a restaurant with each person paying for themselves. Having a lunch group that does a pot luck at the church or at someone’s home is a great idea too!

Hi,
yes its interesting how different places are applying the new changes in their ward relief society…some are still keeping the old way of staging the activities like still having a fixed home enrichment nite every month but have three different activities going on at the same time…so please could you help me on more information on how it should programmed or carried out.
thanks
Love
Lisa

Dear Lisa,

Thanks for your comment. I believe your question would best be asked to your local leaders, such as bishopric, Stake President, and Stake Relief Society. They would have any specific guidelines from general church leaders and if not they should be the ones to seek council from as to what would be best for your local Relief Society.

I hope this helps.
